Midflyt
Software

Software that fits the way your team works.
Not the other way round.

Midflyt is a digital team board, designed to support how your team works with Obeya. Keep your goals, actions, meetings and progress connected in one place. It's the team that makes Obeya work. The software supports the process.

Have a look around

The board

Explore the board from left to right: why we do it, where we are heading, goals, metrics and monthly plans. Select a panel to learn more.

The meeting

Team members suggest items for discussion, the Navigator prepares the agenda, and decisions are recorded on the relevant cards.

Working together

Send work to another team's board inbox and track its contribution to your goal's progress.

Signals

Spot overdue tasks, stalled work and issues that need attention. Record what needs to happen next on the relevant card.

AI integration

Use your organisation's AI assistant to prepare for a meeting, analyse a board or create a card.

Everything stays connected

An Obeya board and a Kanban board share a single workspace, with one member list and one Navigator. Each board has its own meeting. Work on the Kanban board stays linked to the goal it supports on the Obeya board, so everyone can see how their work contributes. When all work linked to a goal is complete, this is immediately reflected on the goal card.

Visual management, digital

Visual management means showing where things stand, so that everyone can see it at a glance. A board on the wall does that too. But you only see it when you're standing in front of it, and it's only accurate if someone keeps it up to date.

A digital team board shows the same information to everyone, including people who work from home or at another location.

What you see at a glance

  • How the work is progressing. Each card can be marked as On track, Needs attention, Stuck or Important, shown along its edge. Needs attention, Stuck and Important come with a note explaining why, and the card's owners and the board's Navigator receive an email notification.
  • Whether a goal is on track. The metrics are on the board as a chart, in the same lane as the goal they belong to.
  • What needs attention. Cards that are Overdue, show No recent progress, are Unassigned or are Stuck are flagged automatically before the meeting.

If you're looking for a digital planning board, you'll find the work and the planning here, together with what you're doing it for.

Meetings are built in, not bolted on

Meeting schedule

Set the meeting schedule for each board, and upcoming meetings are created automatically.

Agenda

Team members suggest items for discussion, and the Navigator prepares the agenda.

Decisions and actions

The outcome of each agenda item is recorded on the relevant card, including any decisions and agreed actions.

Meeting report

Participants receive a meeting report afterwards, with no need to write up separate minutes.

Decisions and actions: no more separate action list

In many teams, the action list is a separate document. After the meeting, someone types it up, and a week later nobody knows where it is. Decisions are in the minutes, somewhere in a folder. In the software, every agreement stays with the work it relates to.

Every agenda item ends with an outcome

An action, a decision, for information only, sent to another board, or resolved without follow-up. When you close an item, you choose one. An item without an outcome cannot be closed.

Actions on the card

An action goes on the board as a card with one or more owners, so the team sees it again at the next meeting. If it becomes overdue or shows no recent progress, it is automatically flagged as needing attention.

A decision log that stays accurate

Each decision gets a number in the board's decision log. It never disappears: you revise it, withdraw it or replace it, always with a reason. If you set a date to review the decision, the Navigator receives a reminder on that day.

Management information on the board, next to the goals

Management information is the information you use to make decisions: how are we doing, and do we need to change anything? Often it's in a report or a KPI dashboard that is produced separately from the work. On the board, the figures are next to the goals, and the team discusses them in the meeting.

Metrics alongside the goals

Each board has its own metrics. A metric is shown on the board as a bar, line or pie chart, a number or milestones, with a target value. For a goal that can't be measured meaningfully with a figure, you track milestones instead.

Progress updates automatically

Work on another board, for example a Kanban board, stays linked to the goal it serves. When all work linked to a goal is complete, the goal is automatically marked as complete. The board at the next organisational level sees, for example, 3 of 5 tasks completed.

The metrics themselves are not added up across boards. Each board chooses the figures that belong with its own goals, so the team can act on them itself. That makes a separate KPI dashboard unnecessary: the figures are next to the goal, and the team discusses them in every meeting.

Works with your OGSM, OKRs or annual plan

Many organisations already have a plan: an OGSM, OKRs, an annual plan or a balanced scorecard. The board doesn't replace that plan. It makes sure the plan is reflected in the work.

PlanWhere it goes on the board
OGSMThe O, the objective or ambition, is the panel Why we do it. The G are the measurable goals. The S is Where we are heading: the direction of each lane. The M covers two things: the metrics and the steps in the months.
OKRThe objective is the direction of a lane. The key results are the goals, each with a metric and a target value. The work goes on cards in the months, and the board's meeting is the regular check-in. Quarters aren't shown separately: the board works with months.
Annual planThe goals per lane, with the steps per month. Every month, you see whether it's on track.
Balanced scorecardA lane is a theme. If you like, you can turn the four perspectives into four lanes, each with goals, metrics and the steps per month. The board has no fixed perspectives: the team chooses.

From management to team

With Send to board, management sends a goal to the inbox of a department or team. The receiving team places it on its own board and starts with its own Why we do it, aligned with the board at the next organisational level. That way, the same plan comes back at every level, in the words of that level.

Your organisation's choice of AI

Connect the AI assistant your organisation already uses. It reviews your boards, makes suggestions and carries out requested tasks, such as preparing for a meeting, analysing a board, creating a card or sending work to another team. It only accesses information and performs actions permitted by your user permissions. The AI cannot access private boards, and you can disconnect it at any time. The AI supports the work. Your team makes the decisions.

Example interaction. The AI operates within your user permissions and cannot access private boards.

Security and access controls

Private boards

Private boards are accessible only to their members, have additional protection and cannot be accessed by connected AI assistants.

Permissions

Control what people can see and do, with permissions set for each team and board.

GDPR and BIO2

Our approach to privacy and security is based on the GDPR and BIO2, the Dutch government's information security baseline. Designed for organisations with demanding privacy and security requirements.

Questions about the software

What is a digital team board?

An on-screen board that shows a team where it stands: the goals, the work, the figures and what has been agreed. Everyone sees the same board, including people who work from home or at another location. At Midflyt, the meeting is built in: the agenda, the decisions and the actions are part of the board.

How is it different from a whiteboard or a stand-alone Kanban board?

A whiteboard shows what's there, but only to whoever is standing in front of it, and it keeps no history. A stand-alone Kanban board shows the work, but not what you're doing it for. On the Obeya board, the goals, the metrics and the work are together, and the work is linked to the goal. Decisions and actions from the meeting are recorded on the relevant card.

Do you get management information out of it?

Yes. Each board has its own metrics next to the goals, as a chart with a target value. The progress of the work is automatically reflected in the goal and on the board at the next organisational level. The metrics themselves are not added up across boards: each board chooses the figures that belong with its goals.

Does it work with OGSM or OKRs?

Yes. With an OGSM, the ambition is the panel Why we do it, and the goals, the direction of each lane, the metrics and the steps per month are on the board. With OKRs, the objective is the direction of a lane and the key results are the goals, each with a metric. The board works with months, not separate quarters.

Is there Dutch-language Obeya software?

Yes. Midflyt is Dutch software, available in Dutch and English. The data is stored in the Netherlands. Our approach to privacy and security is based on the GDPR and BIO2, the Dutch government's information security baseline.

Can you try it first?

Yes. You can try the Obeya software free for 30 days in the free trial. If you want to know how your team would really work with it, book an introductory meeting.

The Obeya shows where you want to go. The software keeps everything connected along the way.
