Obeya team training at your location

In-company training for a team and its team leader. In Obeya basics, your team builds its own board around its goals, organises its lanes and agrees how to run its meetings. The Navigator helps maintain these routines, with ongoing support from Midflyt after the training.

What your team learns: goals, rhythm and a meeting that works

A team that meets every week, but afterwards doesn't know what was agreed. An annual plan that sits in a folder. Goals nobody can name. That is where the training starts: not with theory, but with the team's own work.

Goals. The team chooses where it wants to go, and puts a few goals per lane on the board, each with a deadline and the steps per month. That way, the plan becomes something you look at in every meeting.

Meeting schedule. The team agrees how often it meets at the board, with a fixed agenda. A fixed time keeps the board up to date.

A meeting that works. Every agenda item ends with an outcome: an action, a decision, for information only or resolved. Decisions can be looked up later. Actions are on the board, each with an owner. And the team writes its own golden rules for the meeting, in its own words.

In addition, three or four team members learn the role of Navigator: preparing the meeting, guiding discussions and making sure agreed actions are followed up.

Who it is for: team leaders and their team

The training is for a team and its team leader together, not for the team leader alone. A team leader may want a different kind of meeting, but if the team doesn't take part, little changes. That is why the whole team takes part: the e-learning, the training days and its first meeting at its own board.

Managers take part like everyone else, with the same e-learning and training days. That is deliberate. An Obeya only lasts if managers work with it themselves, rather than leaving it to the team.

Which teams

For teams of up to 20 people, in any organisation. In healthcare, where a team works in shifts and not everyone attends every meeting. In education and childcare, where the school's or site's plan needs to reach the team. At a local authority, where a team such as the Permits team works with other departments. And in construction and installation, where a team wants an overview of its projects and its meeting.

With a certificate, and with your own board

With a lot of training, it's all about the certificate. You get one with us too: all Midflyt training comes with a certificate. In Obeya basics, everyone who completes the whole programme receives one.

But the team takes away more than a certificate. At the end of Obeya basics, the team has its own board in the software, filled with its own lanes, goals and steps per month. There are golden rules for the meeting, a fixed agenda and a meeting schedule that fits. And there are three or four Navigators who run the team's meeting.

That is the difference from training in which you practise with a fictional case. What the team creates during the training is the work of the following week. Its first meeting at its own board already takes place on the second training day. After that, the team simply carries on.

Learn to run effective meetings at your own board

Anyone searching for training in effective meetings usually wants one thing: meetings that are shorter and more productive. Separate tips only help for a while. As soon as the training is over, the meeting falls back into its old pattern.

We do it the other way round. The team learns to meet at its own board, with its own topics.

What changes

  • The agenda is largely ready. Team members suggest items for discussion, and the Navigator puts the agenda together. Cards that need attention because they are Overdue, show No recent progress, are Unassigned or are Stuck are already listed.
  • Every item ends with an outcome. An action, a decision, for information only or resolved. An item that produces nothing stands out.
  • Agreements are recorded on the card. Decisions and actions stay with the work they relate to. Nobody has to type up minutes.

The first round deliberately runs without rules. What the team discovers becomes the framework. That way, the agreements are the team's own, and they stick.

Questions about the training

What is in-company training?

Training that takes place at your organisation, only for your own people. The content is tailored to the team and the organisation. At Midflyt, all training is in-company: always at your own location, for a team of up to 20 people.

Who is the training for?

For a team and its team leader, together. Managers take the same e-learning and attend the same training days. The training suits any organisation, from healthcare and education to local government and construction.

Do you get a certificate?

Yes. All Midflyt training comes with a certificate. In Obeya basics, everyone who completes the whole programme receives a certificate. On top of that, the team leaves with its own board in the software, filled with its own goals and agreements.

Do you need to know Obeya already?

No. Everyone starts with the introductory e-learning: where meetings get stuck now, where Obeya comes from and the board step by step, directly in the software. On the training days, the team gets straight to work with its own board.

Is this training in effective meetings?

Yes, but not in the way you might expect. The team doesn't learn about meetings in general, but practises with its own meeting, at its own board. Every agenda item gets an outcome, decisions can be looked up later and actions are on the board, each with an owner. That way, the team carries on in the same way after the training.

Where does the training take place?

Always at your own location. That is where the team works, and where the meeting at the board will take place. After the introductory meeting and planning discussion, you'll receive a tailored quote for the full training programme.
